Hand-carry option for precise positioning of a drilling rig

Challenge:

The Client required positioning of a drilling rig in the Mediterranean, but wanted to avoid the mobilisation of a full survey and positioning spread.

Solution:

S³ provided a briefcase sized positioning package that could be hand carried by the surveyor from Aberdeen.  The solution included DGPS positioning, GPS based heading control and a PC based integrated survey package for track guidance and electronic chart display.

This fit-for-purpose solution saved the Client significant mobilisation and shipment costs.
